Dear Benefactors, Advocates of Orthodoxy in Catholic Higher Education and First-time Viewers of Our Website,
Dominion is defined as the exercise of authority within a territory or realm. Because the month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ our Lord, we would be derelict in our duties if we did not hold forth in declaring why His Sacred Heart holds dominion not only within a realm, but over every aspect of our lives. The blood in our physical body delivers vital nourishment to every cell existing within us, and the organ which makes sure that that nourishment gets there is the heart. Its every beat causes our blood to surge, without being commanded by our thoughts. Our Lord's Sacred Heart operates similarly. It pumps grace ceaselessly into our lives, metaphysically nourishing our body and soul, but unlike ourselves, it functions by His power and within His everlasting and exclusive dominion in which we His creatures share; but our hearts function at His command. We remain healthy in body and soul only when choosing to cooperate with those graces bestowed upon us in this life, rather than persisting in obstinate ignorance of their nourishing effect.
Knowing of His dominion over our lives and proceedings here on Earth, our foundation's hope remains firm in the quest of opening the doors of the Great Vocations College of St. Athanasius. That hope is now, as of this update, made visible on our Finances page in the form of a financial "thermometer", showing the goals to be achieved, and will be updated on a monthly basis or as needed as we advance in our pursuit. It depicts the dollar amounts at which certain operations will commence, keeping us on task as we measure our success. The life-blood that nourishes this endeavor flows from your generosity! In the physical realm it is measured in dollars, but the life-blood of grace which flows from His Sacred Heart is supplied and measured as He wills. It is apparent that the fruits of our foundation's labor thus far have been realized because, as Bishop Athanasius Schneider reminds us, grace, in presupposing nature, has acted through cooperation, causing the vital groundwork to be laid upon which the academic pursuits of our students will commence. All that awaits now is the continued cooperation of you, our esteemed benefactors and, as of this update, you who are even now reading this message of hope! That hope exists in the merit of our labor in your eyes. We pray that you find what we offer to be a necessary component of the revitalization of our country's culture, recognizing that His Sacred Heart's Dominion nourishes, protects and defends its welfare to the end of time! As our country celebrates its 250th Birthday, we give thanks to the Sacred Heart of our Lord, whose dominion has been the cause of its tenure. Let us, therefore, give to our country a gift worthy of its 250th Birthday and in recognition of the dominion of His Sacred Heart. Your generosity will ensure its success!
With Heartfelt Gratitude,
Timothy H. Bratt - Board of Directors President
